Extraordinarie woman: The untold story behind Little Light Christian art store.

I greatly believe that we each have a mark to leave on this earth and it’s evident in everything we do. It’s not surprising that we have the dreams we have, passions, aspirations, goals and things we’d like to see come to life. All these are definitely there for a reason because it all adds up to the great story God tells through the way we choose to live our lives. No wonder a wise man once said, “What you are is God’s gift to you; what you make of yourself is your gift to God.” So every choice, decision and path you take is ultimately your gift to God based on how you steward all He has blessed you with.

I know March is coming to an end and I hope it has been a blissful one for you. As we get into today’s story, it’s my prayer that you’ll be reminded to chase after those things that set your soul on fire. I hope you’ll be reminded to pursue your dreams and live your live with a purpose. In other news, today we are marching off to April in style as we celebrate yet another extraordinaire woman.

Grab that cup of tea or whatever it is you’d like to sip on as we get in to the gist of today’s woman feature [insert happy dance]. I was privileged to have a chat with the founder of Little Light Christian Art and I hope her story will cause the spark in you to light brighter.

1. Briefly tell us about yourself?

My name is Clarisse Twinobusingye. I am 27 years old and will probably be older depending on when you read this hehe. I am an entrepreneur whose passionate about Christ and spreading the word of God. I am a sucker for cute little things hence the birth of Little Light. I love to travel, I love to organize spaces and I love the color yellow.

2. How was Little Light birthed and what exactly is it about?

I was having a conversation with a friend who for some reason thinks I am a saint hehe. Funny thing is we were talking about my other baby, Yummy256 when he said to me, “With the way you carry yourself and the things you speak, you look like someone who should be selling Bibles. ” and for me that was it. I had always wanted to sell cute little items (I am a sucker for cute things) with Bible verses and in that very moment I felt like my time was now so I talked to God about it and here we are.
Little Light is an online shop specializing in selling Christian art.

3. What inspired you to start?

Honestly, I had a deep desire to give back to God. I always felt that serving in Church (yes, I serve in Amazing class at Watoto Church) was not enough. So I figured if I could get 1 verse at a time out there to someone, anyone, I would impact a life everyday. Like imagine drinking water from a bottle that reads “The JOY of the LORD is my STRENGTH.” Nehemiah 8:10.

4. What do you hope to see out of this journey?

I want to impact as many lives as I can. One at a time. I pray that I can have the biggest Christian Art store in Kampala. I also hope that along the way, someone will say, “Because of her, I accepted Christ as My LORD and personal savior…Because of her, my relationship with Christ grew deeper…Because of her, I made it through.”

5. What is your favorite item from the store and what products do you offer?

We offer a range of products from inspirational magnets to bookmarks, cute flasks and travel mugs, water bottles, journals, bibles and so much more, each with an affirming message. I think by far one of my best items is the “I AM GRATEFUL FOR” placard that comes with every item purchased. So many times, we take things for granted or even forget how blessed we are to have what we have just because the person right next to you has something different. A quick story, growing up, I always hated the fact that I was short until one time my Mom and I were walking on the street and there was a lame man preaching the gospel. My Mom said to me “He has no legs and still does not go about his day complaining about that but rather he preaches and sings about the goodness of the LORD.” That moment changed my life! Our “I AM GRATEFUL FOR” card is intended to remind people that there are a million things to be grateful for…even just the fact that you left your home in the morning and returned in the evening.

6. Had you always been passionate about pursuing a journey like this?

A gigantic yes! I have always been passionate about getting the word of God out there and now that I finally have the chance to, I have never been more proud of myself.

7. How do you usually get clients?

I have the hugest and most supportive family hehe. Anyway, my first clients have always been my family and friends (if you’re reading this now, I want you to know that I am forever indebted to you for your support. Thank you for always believing in me.)
My online family which I am truly grateful for and referrals, it is really a blessing to put a smile on someone’s face because one person goes a long way and before you know it, you have an entire clan from a one single person.

8. What mantra do you live by?

There is quite a number but “Do your part and let God do the rest” is my ultimate favorite.
Often times we humans are so hard on ourselves. We forget that we can only do so little and that is why it is important for us to do what we can diligently and believe in God to do the rest.

9. Where do you see Little light in the future?

I love this question (excited to share). In 5 years I will have a physical shop in Kampala, we can’t stay online forever. People need to see the beauty behind Little Light pun intended. I will have a Christian group of prayer warriors that extend Grace to one another through praying and sharing testimonies. In short, in all that I do, I want to see the glory of God lifted.

10. What’s your message to a woman out there?

If you’re a woman looking for Christ, look no further because He is right next to you. I know it’s possible to feel like you have fallen short of God’s glory but our God does not work like that. He loves you so very much and no matter what you do, He will never render you anything but His. He loved us first, remember.
If you’re a woman looking to start a business, I can only say START. Start with a prayer, start with a plan, start by talking to God about what you want to do, start with the little that you have but no matter what, START! While you’re at it, it will not be easy but no one says it won’t be done. So many times, women are terrified to start because they ask themselves “what if this does not work out?” well what if it does? And if it so happens that it does not work out, start something else. GOD IS VERY GOOD WHEN HE SEES YOU TAKE A LEAP OF FAITH.

  1. Very good read Dee. Thank you. Bless you Clarisse. And Thanx for the reminder that “If you’re a woman looking for Christ, look no further because He is right next to you.” We tend to lengthen and exaggerate our search, and even procrastinate on it because we forget that Jesus is indeed right next to us.
